The opening ceremony for the 2022 FIFA World Cup took place on Sunday at Al Bayt Stadium.
Morgan Freeman, an American actor, was one of the non-musical performers. The ceremony was live narrated by the 85-year-old, who made a lecture about the “emotions that unite us all now.”
In front of 60,000 supporters, Lebanese singer Myriam Fares sang the official FIFA fan festival song, “Tukoh Taka,” alongside Nicki Minaj and Maluma.
“Light The Sky,” another World Cup tune by Bollywood artist Nora Fatehi, was also performed, as was Jung Kook of K-Pop supergroup BTS.
